Only as a private import, and it became much more expensive in 2026. Xiaomi does not sell cars in Mexico. Xiaomi's plans for Mexico
We found no Xiaomi announcement about selling cars in Mexico as of 28 September 2026. Xiaomi's only announced overseas car launch is Europe in 2027, starting with Germany.
The 2026 tariff change
Tariff changes published in the Diario Oficial on 30 December 2025 took effect on 1 January 2026 and cover 1,463 tariff lines. Light vehicles from countries with no free trade agreement with Mexico went to 50%, and electric vehicles from China are included (Mexico News Daily, 1 January 2026).
Mexican customs value includes transport and insurance to the border (Ley Aduanera, article 65), so the tariff is charged on car plus freight, and IVA is then charged on that value plus the tariff. For an SU7 Max that means MX$418,773 of tariff and MX$201,011 of IVA at today's exchange rate.
How a private import works
According to Mexico's customs agency ANAM, an individual can make one definitive import of a new car every 12 months without registering in the Padrón de Importadores, using a CURP, official ID and proof of address. The import has to go through a licensed customs broker.
The car must be new, bought first-hand with the manufacturer's invoice, of the current or following model year, and have under 1,000 km. Taxes and fees due include IGI (the tariff), ISAN, IVA and the customs processing fee (DTA).
The first-hand invoice requirement matters: Xiaomi sells only to customers in China, so an exporter reselling a car may not be able to provide one. Check this with your broker before paying.
ISAN and running costs
Battery electric cars with rechargeable batteries are exempt from ISAN, the federal new-automobile tax (Motorpasión México, 22 July 2026). The SU7 is left-hand drive, which matches Mexican roads.
