Can you buy a Xiaomi SU7 in Germany?
Last updated: · Unofficial, not affiliated with Xiaomi
Not from Xiaomi yet. Xiaomi plans to start selling cars in Europe, including Germany, in 2027, and on 3 September 2026 it signed memoranda with eight German dealer groups at IFA Berlin. Until then the SU7 reaches Germany only through independent importers that register it under EU individual approval; Auto China lists the SU7 Max from €57,060 delivered (July 2026). A new China-built SU7 pays 10% EU duty plus a 35.3% countervailing duty, because Xiaomi is not on the EU's list of cooperating exporters, and then 19% import VAT. On those rates a new SU7 Max (€39,177) costs about €71,757 to import yourself.

Xiaomi's German launch: what is confirmed
At IFA Berlin on 3 September 2026 Xiaomi signed memoranda of understanding with Ernst Dello, Autohaus Dinnebier, Emil Frey Germany, Fett & Wirtz, Hahn Automobile, LUEG Mobility, Penske-Jacobs Innovation and SPT Avior to build its sales and service network. Xiaomi's international VP Dr. Yu Liguo called them "eight of the most respected automotive dealer partners in Germany" (Electrek).
Germany was named as the expected first overseas market in May 2026 (Euronews). Xiaomi has run a research and design centre in Munich since 2025, led by former BMW executive Rudolf Dittrich. No sales month, price or model list has been published; the global site launched on 26 August 2026 only says "officially coming to Europe in 2027".
The full timeline, with what is confirmed and what is only reported, is on our Europe launch tracker.
Buying one now: importers
Independent platforms already bring the SU7 into Germany. China EV Marketplace (CEVM) says Xiaomi was its best-selling brand in 2025 across Germany and 15 other EU markets; the buyer orders in China and the platform handles transport, customs and EU individual approval (Article 45 of the EU type-approval regulation).
Auto China lists the SU7 Max from €57,060 and the SU7 Ultra from €83,950 delivered to Germany, with a two-year importer warranty; the Chinese factory warranty does not apply in Europe (July 2026). go-electra reported CEVM prices of €73,000–98,000 in February 2026.
Parallel-import cars keep China's GB/T charging socket, which is not compatible with the CCS2 standard on European chargers without an adapter.
EU tariffs on the SU7
Since 30 October 2024 the EU charges definitive countervailing duties on new battery-electric cars made in China, on top of the normal 10% duty. The rates in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2754 are 17.0% for BYD, 18.8% for Geely, 35.3% for SAIC, 7.8% for Tesla Shanghai, 20.7% for the cooperating companies listed in its annex, and 35.3% for all other companies.
Xiaomi is not in that annex; it had not delivered a car when the investigation opened in October 2023. So the 35.3% "all other companies" rate applies, 45.3% in total with the 10% duty, charged on the price at the EU border including freight. In January 2026 the Commission published guidance on price undertakings (minimum import prices), which could lower this; Xiaomi declined to say whether it is negotiating one.
German import VAT of 19% is then charged on the customs value plus duties.
Why importer prices can be below our estimate
Our calculator treats the car as new and applies the full 45.3%, which puts a new SU7 Max at €71,757. Auto China's €57,060 is lower. The countervailing duty in Regulation 2024/2754 covers new battery-electric vehicles only, so an importer that exports cars already registered in China could pay less; we could not verify how any importer declares its cars, so ask before you buy.
Running costs
Battery-electric cars first registered in Germany by the end of 2030 are exempt from vehicle tax (Kfz-Steuer) for up to ten years, but no later than 31 December 2035. The Bundestag passed the extension on 4 December 2025.
